Should You Be Posting More? The Honest Answer.

Every business owner asks me this: "How often should I be posting?"

Short answer: more can help. But only if you do it right.

Yes, more posts can mean more reach

More posts means more chances to be seen. That part is true. Instagram's head, Adam Mosseri, has said that in general, posting more helps you reach more people and grow your followers over time. He's also said quality should come before quantity.

That second part is where most people get stuck.

More only works if every post still has a purpose

Every post still has to tie back to your strategy. Not a random video because you felt guilty about not posting. Something that connects to why you're on social media in the first place.

Random content creates random results. Focused content creates patterns, and patterns are what you can actually improve.

The real goal: a pace you can keep

Daily posting isn't required. Sustainable posting is.

Here's what happens when people go too hard: they post every day for two weeks, burn out, disappear for a month, and start over. That cycle kills momentum.

Consistency beats intensity. Three posts a week for a year will do more for you than daily posts for three weeks.

How to pick your number

Ask yourself three honest questions:

  1. How many posts can I make without the quality dropping?

  2. How many can I keep up during my busiest month, not my slowest one?

  3. Can I plan them ahead, or am I making them up the day of?

Start with the smallest number that passes all three. For a lot of small businesses, that's two or three posts a week.

When to post more

Once your current pace feels easy, add one post a week. Keep it there for a month. Check your numbers. If your quality and consistency hold, add another.

That's how you grow your posting without burning out.

Make it easier with a system

You don't need more willpower. You need a simpler process. Batch your filming, plan your month ahead, and write captions in one sitting. Planning saves energy, and energy is what keeps you showing up.

Real talk

Post as much as you can sustain. Just don't post more at the cost of posting on purpose. Slow growth still counts.
