You’re Not Posting Too Little. You’re Saying Too Much.

You’re showing up. You’re posting three times a week. You even tried that trending audio. And still, crickets.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: consistency only works when people know what you’re consistent about. If your feed talks about ten different things, nobody can tell what you’re actually great at, so nobody thinks of you when they need it.

Signs your messaging needs work

  • You post often but don’t get inquiries.

  • People like your posts but never ask about your services.

  • You can’t explain what you do in one sentence without saying “and also.”

  • You’re trying to speak to everyone, which means you’re really speaking to no one.

If you nodded at two or more, keep reading.

Step 1: Write your one-sentence message

Fill in the blanks: “I help ____ get ____ without ____.” For example: “I help busy med spa owners get consistent bookings from social media without filming every single day.” This sentence won’t go in every caption, but every caption should support it.

Step 2: Pick 3 core messages

These are the three things you want someone to believe about you after seeing ten of your posts. Maybe it’s “I’m the expert,” “my results are real,” and “working with me is easy.” Every post should connect back to one of them. If it doesn’t, it’s filler.

Step 3: Use your clients’ words, not industry words

Your clients don’t search for “omnichannel engagement strategy.” They search for “how to get more customers from Instagram.” Pull the exact phrases people use in DMs, reviews, and consult calls, and put them in your captions and on-screen text. It’s clearer, and it helps the right people find you in search.

Step 4: Give every post one job

Before you post, decide what you want people to do: follow, save, send it to a friend, comment, DM you, or book. One post, one job. A post that asks for five things usually gets none of them.

Step 5: Review it once a month

Look at your top five posts from the month. Which core message did each one support? That’s what your audience wants more of. Double down there.

The Clear Messaging Checklist

  • I can explain what I do in one sentence

  • I have 3 core messages, and this post supports one of them

  • This post speaks to one specific person, not everyone

  • It addresses a real problem or goal my audience has

  • It uses words my clients actually say

  • It has one clear next step

Why this matters more than you think

Clear messaging doesn’t just get more engagement. It gets better leads. When your content makes it obvious who you help and how, the people who reach out are already a good fit. Fewer “just browsing” DMs, more “how do I start?”
